Denmark had all the reasons to celebrate as its Women’s Doubles team of Line Damkjaer Kruse-Marie Roepke also continued their successful run like their compatriots and trod into the final round of the European Championships on April 20, 2012.
Danish ladies outclassed their opponents Valeri Sorokina-Nina Vislova in semi-final match with favourable margin of 22-20, 13-21 and 21-12.
However, they had to wait for more than one hour to reserve their right to be in the final as their challengers put up great resistance throughout 66-minute fight.
The opening game of match was just a curtain raiser to their splendid performance in next two games and both teams earned a great deal of admiration for their excellent show of skills.
In first half of game, the Russians had a slight edge of two points but the opposing couple Line Damkjaer-Marie Roepke managed to add three points in their total and put a decent margin of 11-10 before interval.
After one-minute break, crowd enjoyed the best part of tussle when the Danish couple made swift progress but the twosome of Valeri and Nina put their expedition to halt with some powerful rallies.
Both contenders remained toe-to-toe until game point situation but Line Damkjaer and Marie Roepke finished the race with a tight yet decisive margin of 22-20.
The second seeded duo of event, Valeri-Nina switched on the best in following game and bounced back into the match.
They remained at lower end until half time as their challengers were leading in 11-8 score position but the Russians were on their toes in the later part of the game with seven consecutive points.
This seven-point advantage helped them bag the crucial set with a 21-13 score on the board.
However, they could not relish the benefits of second set win and lost the decider in practise match style.
The lower ranked but spirited couple Line Damkjaer-Marie Roepke unleashed a brisk attack and the Russians could not stand against their intensive skills and surrendered after reading final results of 21-12.
The Danish campaigners will now face their compatriots Christinna Pedersen-Kamilla Rytter at the judgment day of European Championships 2012.
