Japan dominate in Australia as former world No. 1s reach women’s doubles final

Japan have a chance to win four titles in the YONEX Australian Open Grand Prix Gold on Sunday while former world No.1s Chin Eei Hui-Wong Pei Tty booked a place in the women’s doubles final.

The Malaysians’ opponents in the final will be Japan’s Shizuka Matsuo-Mami Naito, who defeated China’s Ou Dongni-Xiong Rui 21-19, 21-14. Besides the women’s doubles, other Japanese shuttlers to reach the final are Sho Sasaki (men’s singles) and Hirokatsu Hashimoto-Mizuki Fujii (mixed doubles). The men’s doubles is an all-Japanese affair between Naoki Kawamae/-Shoji Sato and Hiroyuki Endo-Kenichi Hayakawa.
