Saina Nehwal, the best Indian shuttler in Women’s Singles category, said that she won the title at Swiss Open Grand Prix Gold 2012 at the right time as she desperately wanted to get back on the winning track.
Saina, who has been placed at number five in Women’s Singles world rankings, worked well according to the suggestions of her coach Pullela Gopichand and remained successful in winning the title.
With this title, she has finally got rid of her bad patch which was due to her injuries and now she is back on track.
The top Indian is also the only hope for the country to win a medal at Olympic Games as no other Indian player in any category is capable of creating history in the mega event.
While talking about the suggestions of the coach, Saina said that it helped her a lot. She changed her tactics in the court and got the prize in the form of the Women’s Singles crown.
She said, "He was feeling that I am not really moving well and I am feeling stiff on the court. He told me 'just relax and enjoy yourself and play. I will correct your mistakes and don't worry about that.' So, I think all of that worked very well this time."
She also expressed that the title came at the right time as it will boost her confidence in the forthcoming tournaments.
Saina added, "It is very important because Olympics are coming. I needed one big break. It came at the right time. Of course, it took some time but I needed to get back my focus and confidence. I improved all of that. So, I am really happy."
The Indian shuttler has been working extra hard in training sessions for the previous one year but failed to get good results as she was taking much pressure which worked against what she wanted.
However, the national coach Gopichand helped her in getting rid of her bad patch by giving her confidence and this worked really well for the shuttler.
In the upcoming tournaments, Saina will be a threat to all top shuttlers in the world including Chinese females, who are considered best in the arena of badminton.
