Tien Minh Advances next round at Chinese Taipei Open

Top Vietnamese badminton player Nguyen Tien Minh, on September 7th, beat Malaysian His rival, Keat Zhen Kong (the world's number 635), at the 20-minute match, with a score of 2-0 in the first round of the ongoing Yonex Chinese Taipei Open 2011.

With this victory, Nguyen Minh Tien will enter the second round, as the tournament's number one seed to play another Malaysian player, Soon Huat Goh, the world's number 122.

Earlier, on Tuesday, Vietnam's sole female player, Vu Thi Trang, was defeated in the qualifying round by a player from the host country, Chi Ya Cheng, with a score of 2-1.

The tournament, part of the Grand Prix Gold system with total Prizes worth U.S. $ 200,000, started on September 6th and will end on September 11th with Participation of four of the world's top 20 male players, namely, Park Sung Hwan (the Republic of Korean, number 12), Lee Hyun Il (the Republic of Korean, number 13), Simon Santoso (Indonesia, number 18) and Nguyen Tien Minh (number 7).
