Yonex Dutch Open – Indian girls on top as seeds fall in Women’s draw

The Yonex Dutch Open kicked off in Almere today with a marathon day extending to 11 hours of uninterrupted play. The biggest shocks of the day came in the women’s singles as in the space of only 15 minutes two of the top seeded women feel at the hands of emerging Indian talent.

The first to create an upset was Arundhati Pantawane (pictured), the recent finalist at the Czech International in Brno. The young Indian gave number 3 seed Salakjit Ponsana plenty to think about ahead of the upcoming European Super Series events in Denmark and France as she completely stifled ...
